How To Find Manager Jobs

It takes time to become a manager, because you need to have significant qualifications and experience before you can tell others how to do their own jobs. If you want to find a manager jobs, a little planning goes a long way. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Outline your career goals. Sit down with a cup of coffee or a cold soda and write out some basic career goals. Where do you want to be in one year, five years, and ten years? Let your mind wander - what would be the ideal situation? Then think about this in context of your entire life (spouse, family, financial goals) and reevaluate your career goals in light of your life plan. Finally, outline your career goals on paper.

Review your qualifications. Do you have the education and knowledge needed to move forward in management? Many industries require specific training. You might want to consider earning an associate's degree, or even a four-year bachelor's degree to increase your earning potential. If getting a degree isn't practical right now, what training courses or certifications might be helpful?

Update your resume. Most companies now use their websites and email during the hiring process, so it would be a good idea to create a digital resume in addition to a professional paper copy. Always get another pair of eyes to read over your resume before sending it out.

Network. When networking, you make an effort to meet new people and keep up with your professional contacts on a regular basis. Get the word out that you're job-hunting by emailing, calling, or grabbing some coffee with people on your contact list. The more people who know you're back on the job market, the better.

Use online search engines. You can also find management jobs online through major job search engines like Hotjobs.com or Monster.com. Once you find a possible job opening, make a point to research the company through other sources before you apply. These sites update frequently, so check back with them on a regular basis for new job openings.
