Manager Jobs Search Tips

This is a tough time to be looking for a manager job, but with these tips you'll find the right one in no time.

Search job postings regularly. Newspaper classifieds and online job boards are great places to look for both local and national manager jobs. Keep up with the latest job opportunities by checking these sites every few days, if not daily.

Know your local companies. The perfect job may be right down your street! Submit your resume to local companies even if they don't have any current openings - you never know when they will have a sudden job opening and check their files for resumes to fill the job.

Get more specific. When you search online for jobs, it can be difficult to wade through page after page of job listings just to find one that fits your needs. Solve this common problem by using more specific search terms - instead of manager, for example, specify that you want a manager job in the publishing industry.

Follow up on any leads. Especially with online applications, it's easy to become lazy about the job search process. Try to get names of actual people, so that you know who to call or email. Don't pester them - nobody wants to hire someone who demands constant attention. But a brief phone call or email after you send your resume will keep your name from being lost in the online junk pile.
